Thankfulness is a decision. Not a feeling. To build that muscle, try making purposeful decisions to thank God for things that would normally be unusual for you to thank him for. It’ll seem strange at first then eventually you’ll notice that you’ll start habitually being thankful of things more and more frequently.
Although you shouldn’t do it to expect a reward, think of it like you’re making an unforseen investment into your future.
It’s like each breath that you express thankfulness is a key 🔑. And every time you use it, you are unlocking an invisible door. That’s what gives us expectations. It’s the feeling that something will happen, but you just don’t know what. Only in this case, you can expect that it’ll be something good. So with that, you can walk through life with your head up, knowing that you can expect as many good things for at least as much thankfulness as you express.
Blessings may prompt the exercising of thankfulness, but a favorable outcome (whether it looks like an open, delayed, or a closed door) is the result that will always work out for your good.
Be blessed,
G.M.
