Have you ever been misunderstood because your words did not accurately reflect what you meant? Don’t get discouraged… Most people take things at face value, dwelling on the context and missing the content. On the flip side of things…Being misunderstood is a good thing; It means that you recognize when others dwell on words and miss the message. This is one of the ways that God trains us in discernment.
Discernment is our perception derived from spiritual understanding and direction. It causes us to recognize the mystery behind what others see clearly before them.
The bible tells a story about God sending Samuel to seek and annoint the new King who will replace Saul. However when looking at Jesse’s sons, Samuel assumes that one of the son’s, Eliab, who clearly represented a King-ly stature was the one who God had sent him to annoint. [But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”] 1 Samuel 16:7 NIV.
The next time you’re misunderstood, don’t get discouraged, get encouraged, because God is doing a work in you. Just say to yourself, “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”
Job 23:10 NIV
Be blessed.
