“Again she conceived and gave birth to a [fourth] son, and she said, “Now I will praise the Lord.” So she named him Judah; then [for a time] she stopped bearing [children].” Genesis 29:35 AMP
There is something that happens when you produce or give birth to praise. It creates a necessary movement that initiates change.
The emptiness, loneliness, unwantedness, and feeling of being unloved, gets saturated with the expression of approval and admiration for something much greater than yourself.
Praise, in essence, activates the spirit of joy with worship or honor that overwhelmingly overflows from the inside; with outward acknowledgment that can not be contained.
This kind of praise (in a sense) pauses time [as God shores up within you the establishment of what has just come into existence]!
When I look at the scripture Isaiah 12, I am reminded of a snapshot of Leah’s experience that highlighted a pivotal moment of praise in her life where God’s response sealed an investment in the inheritance of all people.
Though she married Jacob out of an act of deceit, the expression of great praise (when she bore her son Judah) acknowledged a fruit whose great seeds were conceiled in her midst. And out of his line came King David and the Holy One (our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ).
Isaiah 12 ESV
The Lord Is My Strength and My Song
12 You will say in that day:
“I will give thanks to you, O Lord,
for though you were angry with me,
your anger turned away,
that you might comfort me.
2 “Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the Lord God is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”
3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4 And you will say in that day:
“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.
5 “Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made known in all the earth.
6 Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”
