Have you ever performed on stage or given a speech?
Life is already a performance and a platform for speech. But getting to an official stage and performing or speaking on demand or by request is a whole other story. It’s a talent, gift, or skill that grows with experience.
I’ve performed dances, skits, pantomime and other classics while growing up in church. Was I any good? A bit. I was no pro, but I enjoyed expressive dances where my movement matched the songs content. I’ve also given speeches, and still do. Now that’s my lane!
I’m a writer and speaker naturally. However, I must admit that when I speak, I don’t stray far from my written content. I find that I can speak freely very well, however, if I’ve prepared a speech, I don’t just freely speak or go off on a tangent. I stick to the script.
As I speak more, I will build more confidence [not necessarily in my stage presence], but in my memory and ability to convey what I’ve prepared, without speaking it word for word. Till then, I think I’m doing alright ☺️.
