It is truly debilitating to discard, forget, or dismiss dreams that we once held dear, because we allowed the lie of the enemy to trick us into believing that a dream is dead or no longer attainable because it has already been manifested without us.
It is important that we free ourselves from the bondage of holding our thoughts and even others captive while casting away dreams and visions just because someone else has done it, accomplished it, or picked it up and ran with it.
Believing that some “big” dream is the only dream we’ll ever get, and that there isn’t any more where that came from, is what keeps us from experiencing the realities of our infinite God, whose testimony for us does not begin with ‘He could have done …’ or ‘He can do’, but that ‘He did do …’.
And just as importantly, we should realize our part through our participation in the process.
Philippians 4:13 KJV says that “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Keyword “I“. Why? Because, “By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.” Proverbs 2:1-3 NLT
If we view our dreams as a gift, then we must remember where such good and perfect gifts come from. “Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:16-17 NIV.
To believe that we should not or cannot push forward and create uniquely identifiable and useful fruit, if another tree bears the same fruit, is not of the Lord. This manner of thinking yields a notion that strips us from the truth of God’s promises for us and creates a spirit of distrust.
The Bible says there is one spirit. And that same spirit distributes gifts accordingly to those who are equipped as the vessels to bring it into fruition. The gifts that God has placed in our hearts come through our thought process to be spoken or created into existence. And if we are listening, we will hear the Lord constantly speaking to us about what we’re doing with our gifts.
He is constantly giving us direction because he is consistently interested in what steps we are taking, and what progress we’re making, in accordance with his timing. But even more importantly, he is interested in our willingness in the preparation process.
If there are no willingness, no steps, and no progress, then it is fair to say that the Lord can decide, just like he did with the servant who buried his talent in the ground, to share or transfer those dreams or gifts to somebody else who is prepared and would participate in investing in such a way as to grow it, so that it can be of service to many.
Keep in mind that in the kingdom of God, the spirit cannot steal from itself, but it can transfer its gifts for the edification of the Kingdom of Heaven. Where one person may sit, there is another who will stand. Where one will sleep, there is another who will watch. Where one will eat, there is another who will sacrifice and fast.
Where there is a choice, there is a cost. Whether as good stewards or slothful individuals. But depending on the choice, the benefits far outweigh the cost.
God searches our hearts, and he knows the mind of the spirit within us. He can see through the thought process of those whom dreams were given, for the furtherance of the Kingdom and the service of those who are coming to God. Those whose lives have been fully invested and have sacrificed will no doubt receive the mercy, grace, favor, and blessing of such labor in accordance with the will of God.
So, as children of God, we should never consider that our Brothers and Sisters in Christ steal our gifts, dreams or talents to exploit them for their own selfish intention. The Lord decides whom gifts, talents, and dreams are given to and He brings the increase as he sees fit.
Be blessed,
G.M.
