When God gives us a blessing, that is the greatest time of attack. Why? Because there’s more for the enemy to gain at that time.
The bible says that “And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.” Exodus 32:19 KJV
There’s so much within this one verse that we can receive from. 1st, God is not surprised with anything we do, he sees the end before the beginning, he knows what we will do before we do it. So when the word says ‘it came to pass’, it means it was part of the plan all along. God did not select moses for this important mission without taking into account this very moment when Moses will allow his anger to destroy the tablets.
And this isn’t the first time Moses anger set him back from establishing God’s plan.
When did his anger flare up? “as soon as he came nigh unto the camp”. It’s easy to walk with God and to connect with the Lord when you are alone in his presence. The problem is while we live here on this earth we can’t stay alone. We will come into the presence of others in which “… the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Galatians 5:19-21 KJV
The bible says “that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.”
We ought to acknowledge who we are in Christ and that we are not only called with a purpose but we must also acknowledge that what we hold in our hands is God given. The bible says “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25 KJV. When we are not in the spirit, destruction always comes. “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” John 10:10 KJV. First he steals the opportunity in the situation to turn things in his favor, then he kills your spirit, then he destroys the blessing which is what you hold in your hand.
Our indication to know when we are not living and walking in the spirit is when we are not displaying the fruit of the Spirit which is “… love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…” Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
However, it is important to know that although we may fall, we have an advocate, Jesus. “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord , which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.” Psalms 121:1-3 KJV
When he said he will not suffer your foot to be moved, it means that the Lord will not keep your feet from coming back to him; You are NEVER stuck in your situation. The devil is a liar. In fact, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV
“And Moses returned unto the Lord…”
Exodus 32:31 KJV
No matter where you are or how far you’ve gone, it is important to return to the Lord. Only he can wash away our sins.
“And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend…” Exodus 33:11 KJV. We are a friend of God. Speak to him just like you would a friend and he will speak to you also.
Let’s not miss this next very important point…
“…And he turned again into the camp…” Exodus 33:11 KJV.
We have a job to do and a purpose to fullfill, victories to be won, land to be conquered, blessings to be had, and promises to walk into. Go again into the camp and do it with the fruit of the spirit. God is with you.
